Take a Meal Break

Use a meal break to step away during a shift. Meal-break time is unpaid and does not count toward your worked hours.

Start a break

  1. Tap Staff Self Service on the POS.
  2. Tap Break.
  3. Confirm the break when prompted.

If your business requires time worked before a break, the POS checks that rule before your break starts. Ask a manager for help if the POS blocks the break.

Resume work

  1. Return to Staff Self Service.
  2. Tap Resume.

The countdown shows how much time remains in your required break. When the countdown ends, tap Resume to return to work.

If the POS shows a warning or block

If you resume early, the POS follows your business’s meal-break rule:

  • A warning lets you resume after showing a notice. The POS records a note.
  • A block keeps you on break until the required time ends.

If you need to return early while a block is active, ask a manager to approve the override from the POS prompt.

Check your hours

Your meal-break time is unpaid. Your timesheet and payroll hours subtract completed break time from your shift total.
