Balance

Balance is the summary view that combines revenue and controllable operating costs.

Use it to answer:

  • Are we improving operating margin over time?
  • Is payroll scaling appropriately with sales?
  • Are expense categories drifting outside target?

Views

  • Monthly view: calendar-month trend
  • 13-period (4-week) view: equal-day-period comparison

Core Metrics

  1. Monthly Net Sales: sales before tax and tip.
  2. Expenses: costs entered in Expenses.
  3. Payroll: labor cost from payroll setup (excluding payroll taxes).
  4. Balance: resulting operating balance after expenses and payroll.

How to Read It

  • Rising net sales with flat payroll ratio is usually positive.
  • Expense spikes without sales lift should be investigated.
  • Persistent balance decline requires pricing, labor, or cost-control action.

Review Cadence
