Courier delivery on the POS
Use a third-party courier when your restaurant needs a driver. Selflane POS 7.8.0 or later supports new courier orders and changing eligible online Pick Up orders to Delivery.
Third-Party Delivery supplies a driver for a Selflane order. Third-Party Ordering brings in orders from marketplaces such as DoorDash Marketplace or Uber Eats.
Before you start
Ask an owner to complete Third-Party Delivery setup.
For a new restaurant-paid courier order, the business also needs courier delivery enabled on its prepaid account. There is no separate POS switch. If the courier option is missing, ask the owner to check the connection and prepaid-account setting.
Check who pays
| Task | Payment |
|---|---|
| Create a new courier order on the POS | Your restaurant pays the courier fee and courier tip from its prepaid account. These amounts are not added to the customer’s bill. |
| Change an eligible online Pick Up order to Delivery | Review the quoted additional charge to the customer’s card. The screen shows the delivery fee, service fee change, tips, and total charge. |
| Customer orders Delivery online | The customer sees delivery charges at checkout. Follow your online delivery settings. |
Create a new courier order
- In
Make Order, chooseDeliveryand openOrder Setting. - Enter the customer’s name, full delivery address, and 10-digit phone number.
- Choose a future delivery time. Use the date picker or
Delayif the POS asks for a later time. - Under

Courier tipand wait for a price. ReviewDelivery feeandTotal from prepaid account. - Add at least one dish or gift card. An empty order or an order containing only notes cannot book a courier.
- Tap the send button showing the courier total. Review any prepaid recharge prompt before continuing.
- Open the submitted order and check its courier status.
The POS adjusts a delivery time that is earlier than the courier can deliver. Check the revised time and price before sending again.
If the POS says alcohol cannot be delivered, remove the listed alcohol items or use your own driver.
If the prepaid balance is too low
The POS shows the amount to add from the card on file before sending. An owner must resolve a failed recharge or top up the account in the Back Office before you send again.
A courier quote is not a booking. Check the submitted order for confirmation.
If sending is interrupted
The POS keeps the original order for resending. If it says the order is being resent, it sends the original details; later edits wait until that send completes.
- If the price expired, use
Get new price. - If the price increased, review it before choosing
Resend atthe new amount. - Use
Send without courieronly when you will arrange your own driver. It does not book a third-party courier.
Do not create another order just because the send result is unclear. Check the existing order first.
Change an online Pick Up order to Delivery
Use this for an open, paid online Pick Up order for the current business day. Kiosk, guest, unpaid, canceled, closed, refunded, or disputed orders are not eligible. An order with an existing courier cannot be converted again.
The restaurant must be accepting online delivery, and the address, time, and items must qualify. The POS shows a reason when an order cannot be changed.
- Open the order’s actions and tap
Change to Delivery. - Get manager approval to open the change screen.
- Enter or check
Delivery address,Customer phone, andDrop-off time. - Tap
Get Price. - Check the card to charge, drop-off time, and every amount in the quote.
- Tap
Approvewhile the price is valid. - Wait for
Changed to deliveryand the courier booking result.
The customer’s existing restaurant tip moves to the courier; that tip is not charged again. Use the displayed Total charge to explain the additional card charge.
When a price expires, tap Refresh Price. If the price or time changes, review the replacement quote before approving.
If the customer must complete the change
Some cards cannot be charged by the restaurant, or the customer’s bank requires confirmation. Ask the customer to change to Delivery from their receipt or the Selflane app.
A card decline needs the customer’s attention. Do not repeatedly approve the same declined card.
If the result is still processing
Booking the courierorStill processing: wait, then useRefresh. Do not start a second change while the first result is unresolved.- A cancel or refund is running: wait a moment, then use
Retry. - No courier could be booked and the screen says the customer was not charged: use
Try Againto get another price, or keep the Pick Up arrangement. Waiting on the customer to pay in the app: have the customer finish the payment.Needs Selflane support: the order is locked and the customer’s card is on hold. Contact Selflane support. Do not retry or tell the customer the change failed until support resolves it.
Check the courier
Open the order and find its third-party courier section. Review the status and last-updated time. Tap the refresh icon to check again.
- A confirmed booking can show a notice that tracking will appear shortly.
Confirming couriermeans the booking result is still being checked. It is not a confirmed failure. No couriermeans you must arrange delivery with your own driver. Follow the notice about whether the prepaid account was charged.- If the booking is still unconfirmed after 40 minutes, check again or arrange your own driver as needed. Contact support before assuming the original booking is canceled.
If the delivery company cancels after booking, arrange your own driver and contact support about the prepaid courier charge. A cancellation after pickup needs support immediately.
Change the time or address after booking
A restaurant-paid courier booking must move with the order’s delivery time or street address.
- Open the order and choose its time or address edit action. Get manager approval if prompted.
- Make the change and tap
Saveto get the new courier price. - Review
Move the courier?, including any recharge from the card on file. - Tap
Move courierand wait for the result. - Check the saved time, address, and courier status on the order.
The confirmation explains that the old courier price is credited back. If the balance is too low and recharge fails, nothing changes; top up before trying again.
If the earliest drop-off time moves, check the revised time and save again for a new price. If the result is unclear, refresh the order before editing again.
If the change saves but no courier takes it, arrange your own driver. A phone-number refusal keeps the old phone number even when other changes save; read the warning.
If courier delivery is turned off or the order uses a courier that cannot be moved here, the POS blocks these edits. Ask a manager or support to resolve the booking before replacing the order.
