Settings

The Settings screen on each iPad controls device-specific options. These are different from the Back Office POS settings, which apply to your whole business.

Tap More → Settings to open them.

General

  • Receipt Width (Columns) — how wide the guest receipt prints. If text (typically the business name) is cut off, tap the up/down arrows next to Receipt Width to switch between 42 and 48 columns.
  • Kitchen Printing Deferred Time — how far ahead a future order prints to the kitchen. Choose between 1 and 5 hours.
  • Auto Print Online Orders — when more than one iPad is in your fleet, only one should have this on. Otherwise the same online order prints multiple times.
  • Quick Service Mode — when on, skips the table-select screen. Use this for counter service.
  • Drive-Thru Mode — when on, allows this iPad to take Drive-Thru orders.
  • Default Order Type — pre-selects an order type when staff open Make Order.
  • Show Rotating Tip Editor — turns on the integrated tip-and-signature flow at payment. Available only for semi-integrated PAX terminals and Stripe readers.
  • Use Caller ID — turn on if your restaurant has Caller ID hardware. See Caller ID for the full setup.

Using the Rotating Tip Editor

  1. Tap the charge icon in the payment screen.
  2. Insert the credit card in the terminal or reader.
  3. Once the payment is approved, the tip-and-signature screen appears.
  4. Rotate the iPad so the customer can see the screen, unless you have a Customer-Facing Display.
  5. Have the customer pick a tip, sign, and tap Submit.
  6. If the customer wants a receipt, tap the printer icon at the bottom-right.

Lock Screen

  • Automatically Lock Screen (Sign Out Staff) — turn on if multiple servers share an iPad. The screen locks after the timeout below.
  • Lock Screen Idle Time (Seconds) — tap to set the timeout. Scroll to the desired number of seconds, then tap Settings on the left to save.

Delivery Fee

  • Delivery Fee/Unit — set the base delivery fee. Tap to enter the amount.
  • Delivery Fee Unit (Miles) — leave at 0 for a flat delivery fee. To charge per mile, tap and enter the per-mile rate. Tap Settings on the left to save.
