Data & History

Data & History helps owners of more than one location keep them in step, undo a menu change that went wrong, and trace who changed what. Open it from Owner's Portal > Data & History in the Back Office . It has three tabs: Sync, Backups, and Log.

Owner-level access required.

Sync

Use Sync to copy one slice of this business’s setup to your other businesses, such as pushing a new menu to every location at once.

Only use this for businesses that share the same menus, hours, or settings. Each push overwrites that slice of data in the target businesses.

Pick the target businesses

The cards list every other business you own, A to Z. Only businesses where you’re an owner appear. Select a card to add it, and select it again to remove it. Selected cards have a highlighted border, and each one also shows as a chip above the cards.

Push data

Each button copies one slice from this business to every selected target:

Sync Hours: weekly hours and special days. If this business has no special days, the targets’ special days are cleared. Temporary closures and prep time aren’t copied.
Sync Menus: opens a dialog with two pushes:
- Sync Menus, Modifiers & Combos: replaces the targets’ menus, categories, and dishes, and recreates their combos. Any target modifier this business doesn’t have is deleted. This business needs at least one menu, category, and dish.
- Sync Matrix Modifiers: replaces the targets’ matrix modifier prefixes and suffixes.
Sync Logo & Categories: your logo and your cuisine categories, the tags that describe your restaurant. Not menu categories. This business needs a logo.
Sync Tables: replaces all of the targets’ floor plan tables. Drawn room layouts aren’t copied.
Sync POS Settings: your POS settings, except staff jobs and cash drawer settings. POS devices pick up the change when they reload.
Sync Special Pricing: your special pricing.
Sync Voucher: your vouchers.

Each button opens a dialog that lists From (this business) and To (the targets). Select Sync to push. With no target selected, you see Please select at least one business.

Each target is synced on its own. If some fail, a message such as Synced to 2 of 3 businesses. lists why each failed one didn’t sync.

Before Sync Menus, Modifiers & Combos changes a target, Selflane backs up that target’s menu, modifiers, and combos as before menu sync <date>. To undo a mistaken push, restore that backup on the target. See Backups.

Synced tables keep this business’s internal IDs. Reservations and seated tables on a target can lose their table after the sync. Sync tables before a new location starts taking bookings.

Chowly

If the business uses Chowly and isn’t connected through StreamOrder, its Chowly settings appear below the sync buttons. See Chowly.

Backups

Selflane backs up each business’s menu every night. Use Backups to undo a menu change, such as a bulk edit or a menu import that went wrong.

The Restore Backup table lists backups from the last 7 days, newest first:

Date: when the backup was made.
Name: what made it. copy_2026-10-30 is the nightly backup for that date. Others are taken automatically before a menu import, a menu copy review, a menu command, a menu sync, or a restore, such as before menu import 2026-10-30.
Action: the Restore button, which replaces the current menu with that backup.

When you click Restore, Selflane asks you to confirm. The message names the backup, or gives its date if it has no name, and says what the restore replaces. Click OK to restore it.

Before restoring, Selflane backs up the current state as before restore <name>. To undo a restore, restore that backup.

A restore brings back more than the menu. It always replaces menus, categories, and dishes, plus these when the backup has them:

your whole hours setup, including special days, temporary closures, online ordering pauses, and prep time
floor plan tables
printing groups

Some backups also bring back modifiers:

A before menu command backup undoes that command’s modifier and matrix modifier changes.
A before menu sync backup replaces all your modifiers with the ones you had before the sync, and your combos too if the sync replaced them.

A before restore backup undoes whatever modifier or combo changes that restore made. Nightly, before menu import, and before menu copy review backups leave modifiers and combos alone.

A restore can reopen a store you closed temporarily, or bring back an old pause. Check your hours and tables afterward.

Log

The Log tab is the action log: a record of important edits and actions on this business. Use it to trace a change back to the staff member who made it.

Entries are kept for 30 days, then deleted automatically.

Date: when it happened.
Dataset: the area of the business that changed.
Title: the name of the record that changed, or the kind of sync, such as Synced tables.
Action: what was done.
User: the email of the person who did it.

Newest entries come first. Sort by any column except Action. Use a column header’s menu to filter or hide columns. The log has no search or export.

Pushes from Sync also appear here on each target, such as Synced menu. A menu push notes how many modifiers it deleted. Special pricing, voucher, and matrix modifier pushes aren’t logged.
