Which Selflane emails can I turn off?
Selflane sends a handful of automated emails — nightly summaries, attendance notices, product news. Most of them can be switched off. This page shows where the toggles live, which emails they cover, and which emails always arrive no matter what.
Where the settings live
Open the Back Office , go to Users & Access, and find the Email Preferences card.
There are two sets of toggles, and the difference matters:
- Business-level — turns the email off for everyone at the business. Owner-only, and it applies to the one business you are looking at.
- My email — turns the email off for you and leaves your co-owners subscribed.
My email applies to every business on your email address. If you own three restaurants and switch off Auto Clock-Out Notices under My email, you stop getting that email for all three. To quiet one restaurant only, use the business-level toggle, once per business.
Both sets default to on. An email reaches you only if the business-level toggle allows it and you haven’t turned it off for yourself.
What you can turn off
| What it is | |
|---|---|
| Auto Clock-Out Notices | Staff left clocked in overnight and the system closed the punchcard. |
| Long Shift Notices | A punchcard recorded an unusually long shift, worth checking before payroll. |
| Daily Ops Summary | Yesterday’s numbers. |
| Weekly Sales Summary | The week’s numbers. |
| Selflane News & Announcements | Product and company news. |
These are the optional emails today. The list grows as new automated emails ship, so the card in the Back Office is the current source of truth — anything with a live toggle can be switched off.
Turning off the email does not turn off auto clock-out
Switching off Auto Clock-Out Notices stops the email, not the feature. The system still closes punchcards that staff left open, and those records still need reviewing in the Back Office before you run payroll. The email was the reminder, not the mechanism.
If you turn the notice off, put the review somewhere else in your routine — check the Day tab for the affected date, or scan punchcards as part of your payroll close. Set the cutoff itself under Auto Clockout Time in Team Management.
What you can’t turn off
Some rows on the card are greyed out. These emails always send:
- Invoices, refunds, disputes, and payment failures — money moved, or failed to move, and the email is the record.
- DNS instructions — the setup steps for your own domain.
- Service notices — outages, incidents, and breaking changes you need to act on.
Each of these carries information that exists nowhere else, or that costs you money to miss. There is no toggle for them, so you don’t need to go looking for one.
The unsubscribe link in the email
Optional emails carry an unsubscribe link in the footer. It opts your address out of that one type of email, across every business on that address — one person who owns several businesses receives a single copy, so the link works the same way the My email toggle does.
For anything finer — quieting one business, or one email for the whole team — use the Email Preferences card in the Back Office.
