Printers
Each iPad in your restaurant needs to know which printers to use — its own receipt printer up front, plus the kitchen and bar printers everyone shares. You set this once per iPad in More → Printers.
For supported printer models, see Hardware.
Assign a printer to this iPad
- Tap More → Printers.
- Tap + in the upper-right corner. The iPad scans the network and lists every available printer.
- Tap the printer you want to add. The settings dialog shows:
- Device — the model number (printed on the printer itself).
- IP address — see Network for how to find it.
- Choose where this printer should print:
- Front — the receipt printer at this iPad. Different at each station.
- Kitchen, Kitchen2, Kitchen3, Bar — shared across stations. The same kitchen printer should be assigned to every iPad that sends tickets there.
- Tap Set Stations to save.
A single printer can serve more than one role — the receipt printer at the bar can also be assigned as the Bar kitchen printer, for example.
Why each iPad needs its own setup
Printer assignments are stored on the iPad, not on the cloud. If you add a new iPad to your fleet, you have to repeat this on the new device.
If a printer disappears from the list, it’s almost always a network issue — see Network Troubleshooting and Printer Troubleshooting.
